The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Ghana on Sunday for a two-day visit to celebrate the relationship between the UK and the Commonwealth country.

His trip begins with a visit to the Aburi Education College and Kindergarten Schools, where Prince Edward will observe trainee teachers learning play-based methods and engage with a Kindergarten class and hear about the school’s innovations.

His Royal Highness will also visit the Aburi Botanical Gardens to hear about UK-Ghana collaboration on initiatives in support of sustainable development, and will plant a tree near to a Silver Oak planted by His Majesty The King, as Prince of Wales, and a Mahogony tree, planted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1961.

Also included on Prince Edward’s itinerary is a visit to the Affinity Bank Training Centre, a programme supporting high-impact startups from across Commonwealth countries, and an event hosted by the British High Commission.

During his trip, Prince Edward will meet The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Mr John Dramani Mahama and traditional leaders, to promote deeper diplomatic and cultural ties.
