Pierce Brosnan has reunited with his son Christopher after years of estrangement. The actor, best known for his portrayal of James Bond, had previously spoken openly about cutting ties with Christopher due to his long struggle with substance abuse.
According to Female First UK, the 72-year-old actor was seen with his son for the first time in two decades. The pair were photographed leaving a bistro in Notting Hill, west London, following a family gathering. A source told the Sunday Mirror, “They both looked happy and relaxed while sitting down with one of Brosnan’s other sons Dylan. Pierce and Christopher’s problems have been well documented. But it seems they’ve managed to put them behind them. It was really nice to see them together.”
Christopher Brosnan, who has battled addictions to cocaine and heroin, nearly lost his life to an overdose in 2002. He later entered rehabilitation but was arrested for heroin possession in 2005. His father adopted him and his late sister Charlotte after their biological father, Dermot Harris, passed away in 1986. Both were the children of Brosnan’s first wife, actress Cassandra Harris.
In a 2005 interview with Playboy magazine, the Irish actor spoke candidly about the painful decision to distance himself from his son. “Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he’s having a hard life. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family, but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. He doesn’t want to. It’s painful because you shut down. You never completely cut them off, but I have cut Christopher off. I had to say: ‘Go. Get busy living, or get busy dying. He has my prayers.”
Signs of reconciliation first appeared in 2022 when Brosnan included Christopher in a heartfelt Father’s Day message shared on social media. The actor wrote, “My love forever to you dear sons, Paris, Dylan, Sean and Christopher, thank you deeply for your love on this Father’s Day.” However, the accompanying photo featured only his sons Paris, Dylan, and Sean.
