PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) – News Channel 3 continues to report in depth on the drug crisis impacting our valley.

And now, a Palm Springs man has created a nonprofit app aimed at helping people struggling with addiction.

It’s called “Sobersynq,” and it uses AI and wearables to help stop people from using drugs or alcohol.

People can use the app to journal, and the app can detect if someone is struggling based on several factors, including sleep patterns. It can also track if someone goes somewhere where addiction may be difficult, including a bar. A voice will then give the person gentle guidance.

Bleu Byron, Founder of the Sobersynq app, says, “My hope is to stop the destruction of people’s lives. To be that voice that has never been there before for people, to give them time to breathe and talk through it. The app’s not going to force you to do anything.”

News Channel 3’s Peter Daut spoke with Byron to get more on what Sobersynq has to offer.

There are 40 features in the app to help people struggling with addiction, and it’s set to launch next month.
