I am not that hero when he is healthy, nor am I that villain when he is not healthy. I will wear neither crown!
Sometimes doing nothing about a family member’s active addiction is doing more.
In our home we have found a balance, even within the current chaos. The members try to communicate calmly and with respect. Perhaps it comes with experience as this is not our first time dealing with active addiction. We are far wise now than in years past, all understanding their roles and what works to collaborate with my son’s recovery.
It is a disease related condition with the bad behavior being a symptom.
