Our addicted child’s life skills

From her words I began to understand that he alone would need to fix his life. He would also have to experience the ups and downs that every young adult experiences along the path of life. If he relapsed because of financial issues or girlfriend issues, so be it. In thirty years I will not be here to rescue him from his drama. Thanks to my friend, I let go a little more that evening.

"Letting Go" is not neglect

At the start of my recovery I struggled with the thought had I done things differently my child would not become addicted. Perhaps one more game of “21” in the backyard or one more Barbie dress up session and our children would not have become trapped into the addiction lifestyle. There is nothing further from the truth.
