Enabler’s loophole?

I cringed as in my humble opinion, behaviors such as enabling, rescuing, and codependency are all WRONG. I am not judging for the sake of judging, but rather to offer hope. Hope takes some work on our part.

What I did not do …

People seeking recovery for their kids often ask what I did to cure him. I learned that I was powerless and that he cured himself! Perhaps it is what I learned “not to do” ,that maybe helped him along. I would not cure my son but l very quickly learned not to enable his disease

Powdering their buttocks

I watched others go through the endless cycle and decided that “clean underwear did not equate to love” I loved my child but felt he had to bottom out and understand that I would not be their to “powder his butt” forever.

Talk is Cheap

Enablers on some level love to feel needed by their child. Feeling needed is a positive thing and the fact that parents can keep their drug addicted child at home is the cherry on the enabling cupcake.
